Hydrazine hydrate

Hydrazine hydrate is used on a large scale in the synthesis of pharmaceutical active ingredients, crop protection agents, dyestuffs, and other organic derivatives. Typical intermediates are:

• hydrazides,
• semicarbazides;
• triazines,
• triazoles,
• hyridazines,
• pyrazoles;
• thiadiazoles,
• tetrazoles.

In addition, hydrazine hydrate plays an important role as a corrosion inhibitor in water/steam circuits and as a blowing agent/propellant for the foaming of thermoplastics and elastomers (azodicarboxylic acid diamide, POROFORâ). Typical inorganic derivatives are lead azide and sodium azide.
